This person might reach a point where the party’s stance, regardless of its merits or faults, becomes synonymous with their own sense of right and wrong. The danger here is not in the affiliation itself but in the inflexibility it engenders. When one's identity is so intertwined with a specific ideology, any challenge to the party's decisions or policies can feel like a personal attack, leading to defensive postures rather than open-minded discussions.This phenomenon is not limited to one political spectrum but is a widespread issue across various groups. The result is often a distorted narrative where facts are manipulated or ignored not in pursuit of truth, but to protect a fragile sense of self.The Role of Ego in Conflict The ego plays a crucial role in this process. It operates based on limited experience and conditioned beliefs. It often acts out of fear, attachment, or a sense of lack. Engage Your SensesPresence is sensory, not mental. To get out of your head, engage your senses:What do you hear right now? Listen carefully to the sounds around you. What do you see? By tuning into your senses, you step out of thinking and into direct experience.4. Drop the Story, Just Be HereMost of our suffering comes from the mental stories we tell ourselves. When you feel stressed, pause and ask:What is happening right now, in this moment? Not in my mind, not in the past or future but right now? Almost always, you’ll find that the present moment is neutral or even peaceful. It’s the mind that adds drama. Let go of the story, and just be here.5.
